Caitlyn’s Trip to Club 33

Hello again friends,

I’m so excited to share with you, about my first Club 33 experience! Now, it actually happened in April, and life got a little crazy with Graduation and starting my new job, that I had completely forgotten that I hadn’t posted it! Either way, it was really exciting, and I hope you enjoy!

Club 33 has always been on my Disney bucket list, so to be able to go with my family was a dream come true! Let me back track a little bit to how we got to this point. Last year, I became friends with a couple of Cast Members at my local Disney Store, and we would always chat about our trips and all things Disney. A couple months prior to our 33 visit, my CM friend Gynnie had asked if I had gone to Club 33, and when I told her I hadn’t, she said she had connections to get me in. So, thanks to Gynnie and Stuart (the most awesome CMs ever!), we got to go on April 27th for lunch. It was the perfect time for us to go, because it was 3 days after my brother William’s 21st birthday. What a fun way to celebrate! My family was so excited, and we literally made the trip down to Disneyland to go to Club 33.

The crazy part about it, was that we almost didn’t even go to Club 33! We had gotten into Anaheim late Friday night, and when I woke up on Saturday morning, I had a migraine, and later on, a fever. Luckily, I was well enough to go for the couple of hours we were in 33. When we arrived, it was surreal just to ring the doorbell, but then every moment after was just as surreal as the first. From walking into the lobby, to taking the lift, it was hard to believe we were actually there! We were seated in the Trophy Room, right by a window that overlooked the entrance to 33 and the Blue Bayou. For quite some time, we were the only ones seated in that room, so it was relaxing to have some rare, quiet time in Disneyland. Before we got our food, we walked around a little bit to look at everything, take pictures, and of course, buy merchandise. My friend Gynnie was even there too, so I chatted with her for a bit. What I enjoyed was the portrait that was done of Walt sitting at a window overlooking New Orleans Square, which is a wonderful touch and tribute to Walt. I’m sure he would have loved 33 and would have been a regular there.

We enjoyed our appetizers, but kept them light for our entrees and dessert. For me, that really meant I was saving room for dessert. My mom, brother, and I all ordered the chicken with the truffled macaroni and cheese, while my dad ordered the crab stuffed lobster. We all enjoyed our food, but I think it’s safe to say we all were most excited for dessert! Before we could go to the dessert buffet, our waiter, Robert, brought WIlliam a birthday dessert that looked like Mickey. Robert was awesome! He answered all of our questions, and told us that he had been working there for over 30 years. He had even waited on Lillian Disney and the family multiple times before her passing. He loves his job, and loves seeing all of the different types of guests that dine there. He even told us that he (almost literally) bumped into Scarlett Johansson a couple of days prior. After chatting with Robert, we headed for the dessert buffet, which we all know by now, was my main reason for going. ;) I could have tried one of everything, but I opted for only one plateful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Club 33, and I hope that I’ll be able to go there again someday. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget, and glad that I was healthy enough to experience it, even if only for a couple hours.

Until next time,

Caitlyn

You’re lucky, Robert is one of the best servers in the club (to be fair, the same is true of Randy, Brenda, Alastair, and all of the long-timer servers there :-) )
