The Rescuers: 35th Anniversary Edition & The Rescuers Down Under – 2 Movie Collection – Blu-Ray Review by Mr. DAPs

DAPs Magic Disney News – by Mr. DAPs

The Rescuers: 35th Anniversary Edition & The Rescuers Down Under – 2 Movie Collection is being released together on Blu-Ray Disc. These two movies tell the stories of a the Rescue Aid Society’s two most famous mice, Bianca (Eva Gabor) and Bernard (Bob Newhart). In the original movie, The Rescuers, these two mice are out to save a young girl named Penny who is trapped on a very Mark Twain looking sternwheeler. In The Rescuers Down Under the two mice fly to Austraila to rescue a young boy and a very rare eagle from a poacher.

Picture and Sound:

This was the best looking presentation of either of these movies that I have seen to date. I will admit, the original movie isn’t my favorite movie in terms of visual appeal. However, for what it is, it looked good. The second one did not disappoint either. I felt that the sound was greatly improved over previous releases as well. This holds especially true to the original movie.

Bonus Features:

Bonus features included:

  • Peoplitisdeleted song;
  • The Making of “Rescuers Down Under;”
  • Three Blind Mouseketeersanimated short;
  • Water-Birds,  A Walt Disney True Life Adventure documentary;
  • Someone’s Waiting For YouSing-Along

Other than the sing along, the bonus features are definitely worth checking out. They aren’t the most in depth but they are kind of fun.

Overview:

The Rescuers: 35th Anniversary Edition & The Rescuers Down Under – 2 Movie Collection is a wonderful addition to your Disney movie collection. These are solid little movies in the Disney stable, especially the second one.  It really is a case where I like the sequel better than the original. However, both of them have heart and wonderful lessons about doing right no matter what the obstacles (or how big you are). Even though these aren’t the most remarkable Disney movies in the world and the bonus features aren’t that comprehensive, I am going to give this collection a hat tip. They are simple, fun, and a part of the Disney animated legacy.
