While Coke Corner is currently under construction, Disneyland’s Ragtime Piano has been moved to the lowest deck of the Mark Twain riverboat where piano players have been tickling the ivories daily as they cruise around the Rivers of America. This white yamaha piano can be found right in the middle of that first deck with one of Disneyland’s piano players has been attracting attention since being moved aboard.
On Sunday, January 22, 2012 Ragtime Robert was the piano player that could be found aboard the Mark Twain. As his fingers danced across the keyboard, both guests and cast members alike wandered by and listened to the magic coming through the music. His laughter and smiles just added to this magical atmosphere. He plays many classic ragtime piano tunes throughout his sets, some favorite showtunes, and of course some Disney classics. On Sunday, Ragtime Robert played many favorite tunes including The Entertainer, Zippadeedoodah, Yo ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life for Me, Grim Grinning Ghosts, and Waiting for the Robert E. Lee while being filmed.
He was then joined by a guest named Robby and played several impromptu duets. These duets included music from Mary Poppins, the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and a very animated version of Waiting for the Robert E. Lee. Hearing Disneyland’s ragtime piano aboard the Mark Twain is a wonderfully magical experience. The piano music adds a new dimension to one of Disneyland’s original attractions.
Check it out while Coke Corner is still being refurbished, before the ragtime piano players are moved back to their traditional home.
Here are several videos from Sunday, more will be added as they are rendered and uploaded to youtube.
