The skies above Disneyland have been quiet on one of the busier weeks of the year at the resort. Many rumors have been swirling around twitter and the social media universe about the exact reason for the holiday fireworks’ hiatus. Disneyland has not released specifics on the exact cause but has been working throughout the week to return the Believe in Holiday Magic fireworks to the skies above Sleeping Beauty Castle.
When asked for comment, Disneyland spokesperson Betsy Sanchez said, “We are working diligently to resolve the situation and will host our fireworks as soon as possible. The safety of our cast and guests always takes priority in our decisions.”
Safety of both Cast Members and Guests is of the utmost importance to Disneyland. To promote safety for guests, Disney created Disney’s Wild About Safety campaign with spokesanimals Timon and Pumbaa. This campaign promotes safety for all ages visiting Disney theme parks. The Walt Disney Parks and Resorts also released a report on safety which summarizes the safety programs throughout the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. According to the Walt Disney Company’s website, Disney “aims to minimize risks and associated costs by providing quality and professional technical services that foster the safest environment possible for guests, cast members, and property.” This focus on safety comes at a cost as thousands of guests pour into the Disneyland Resort this week hoping to see the seasonal fireworks display.
Without the fireworks, the Disneyland Resort still has plenty of entertainment to be seen every night. Disneyland has been presenting three performances of Fantasmic! every night this week at Disneyland. Snow also has been falling nightly. Disney California Adventure presents World of Color nightly as well. It is unknown at this time when Believe in Holiday Magic fireworks will return to the skies above Disneyland or how this will affect the New Years Eve celebrations.
