LOS ANGELES The Walt Disney Concert Hall is undergoing a face lift to tone down its shiny, polished steel panels.
People have been complaining about the Los Angeles landmark’s mirror-like exterior, which creates an unbearable glare. Those who live in condos across the street have also complained that, on sunny days, reflections from the hall heat up their rooms.
So workers went to work yesterday and began sanding down 6,000 square feet of steel.
The six-week project will cost the Music Center, the nonprofit group that operates Disney Hall, 90-thousand dollars. The building is designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
